Frankfurt Airport T3

Frankfurt Airport T3 LED walls represent one of the most ambitious digital signage projects recently delivered in Europe. The new terminal combines large-scale architecture, advanced media integration, and premium LED technology to create a completely new passenger experience. Moreover, the project confirms how airports are increasingly becoming immersive communication environments where technology, advertising, and passenger information work together seamlessly.

Frankfurt Airport officially opened Terminal 3 after more than a decade of construction and an investment of approximately four billion euros. The terminal was designed as a next-generation hub capable of handling millions of passengers while supporting a highly integrated digital ecosystem. Throughout the terminal, digital signage plays a central role. Large LED installations, LCD video walls, flight information displays, and connected advertising networks accompany passengers from check-in to boarding.

Within this context, M-Cube contributed to one of the most visually impactful elements of the entire project: the spectacular LED walls installed inside the check-in area. Designed to deliver maximum visibility and immersive communication, the installation immediately became one of the defining visual features of Terminal 3.

Frankfurt Airport T3 LED Walls Combine Scale and Precision

The LED walls installed at Frankfurt Airport T3 were engineered to deliver an exceptional visual experience while integrating perfectly within the terminal architecture.

Each wall features an ultra-wide resolution of 5376 x 1472 pixels across a physical size of 21.00 x 5.75 metres. Thanks to these dimensions, the displays create a highly cinematic effect capable of attracting attention from multiple viewpoints inside the terminal.

To ensure optimal playback quality, each LED wall is managed using two separate 4K inputs connected to a Novastar H2 controller. Furthermore, the content structure was carefully designed to guarantee seamless synchronisation across the entire surface.

The content preparation process required four dedicated portions in total. Consequently, each LED wall was divided into two separate sections measuring 1472 x 2688 pixels each. This technical configuration allowed the installation to maintain consistent image quality, perfect alignment, and smooth motion reproduction across the complete display area.

Beyond the technical specifications, the installation was designed to support premium brand storytelling within one of Europe’s busiest international airports. Therefore, both visual performance and architectural integration became essential aspects of the project.

Digital Signage at Frankfurt Airport T3 Creates a New Passenger Experience

Terminal 3 has been widely recognised for its digital-first approach. Unlike many traditional airport environments, the advertising and communication infrastructure was integrated into the building concept from the earliest development stages.

Media Frankfurt, the airport’s long-term marketing partner, developed a network featuring around 230 advertising assets covering approximately 2,500 square metres of media space. Most of these installations are digital, creating one of Germany’s most advanced airport digital signage ecosystems.

Large LED installations dominate key passenger areas, while LCD video walls continue to manage flight information displays throughout the terminal. The result is a balanced environment where operational communication and premium visual storytelling coexist effectively.

The project also reflects the broader evolution of airport digital signage. Historically, airport screens focused primarily on functionality and durability. Frankfurt Terminal 3 still preserves this philosophy through its extensive use of professionally integrated LCD flight information displays. At the same time, however, the terminal introduces a more experiential approach through large-format LED technology capable of delivering immersive visual communication.

Frankfurt Airport T3 LED Walls Support High-Impact Brand Communication

The LED walls were conceived not only as technical displays but also as strategic communication platforms. Their size, brightness, and positioning make them ideal for premium advertising campaigns and large-scale visual storytelling.

Located within the terminal’s check-in environment, the displays generate immediate visual impact while maintaining a clean and elegant integration within the architectural design. This balance between visibility and sophistication reflects the overall identity of Terminal 3.

In addition, the project demonstrates how airports are evolving into high-value digital media environments. International passengers spend significant time inside terminals, making these spaces increasingly attractive for brands seeking premium audience engagement.

Thanks to advanced LED technology, advertisers can now create more dynamic and visually engaging campaigns compared to traditional static formats. As a result, airport digital signage continues to move towards increasingly immersive and content-driven experiences.

M-Cube Developed Dedicated Content for the Frankfurt Airport T3 LED Walls

Alongside the LED installation, M-Cube also developed dedicated visual content specifically designed to showcase the full potential of the displays.

The creative team produced immersive 3D anamorphic visuals enhanced through advanced AI-supported content creation workflows. In a remarkably short timeframe, the team created original content from scratch tailored to the unique proportions and technical characteristics of the LED walls.

The objective was not simply to display promotional material, but rather to create visually striking content capable of enhancing the immersive quality of the installation itself.

This creative contribution added an additional experiential layer to the project while demonstrating M-Cube’s expertise in combining digital signage technology, immersive storytelling, and innovative content production techniques.
